Asus Zenfone 3s Max Review- Stylish Battery monster

Battery life is one of the major concerns of the smartphones. To fix that there were attempts to ship smartphones with higher battery capacity. But that resulted in heavier and bulkier smartphones. Asus Zenfone 3s Max is exception to this. It comes with massive 5000 mAh battery yet not bulky. It is slimmer and stylish. 5000 mAh battery coupled with Android Nougat battery optimization, Zenfone 3s Max battery life is excellent. In our testing period we got more than 2 days on regular usage. It can be used as power bank to charge other smartphone as well. Sadly it doesn’t comes with fast charging option.

Asus Zenfone 3s Max sports 5.2 inch IPS display with 1280×720 pixel resolution. The display panel quality is good. It offers good viewing angles and rich colors.  With thin bezels, overall display panel looks good. However, it would have been great if it had full HD display panel.

Apart from battery life, another USP of Zenfone 3s Max is it is running on Android 7.o Nougat out of the box. It is rare to see a smartphone running on latest iteration of Android OS out of the box at this  price.  Android 7.0 brings plethora of useful features such as improved notification, split screen, revamped quick toggles etc.

Asus Zenfone 3s Max is powered by Octa Core Mediatek MT6750 SoC with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. In our usage, phone performance was butter smooth while performing day to day uses. However, while playing graphic intensive games in highest settings, we observed some frame drops.

Asus Zenfone 3s Max houses 13 megapixel primary camera with dual LED flash and 8MP front facing camera. The focus and shutter speed was fairly fast. Camera results were good in well lit conditions. However, it struggles in low light and indoor lighting conditions.

Zenfone 3s Max target audience are those who wants a compact phone with good battery life without compromising much on the performance. Camera is one section where it fared badly compared to some of the other phones in this price segment.
