In Windows, there is a dedicated key to take screenshot. But in Mac OS  running systems, there is no dedicated button. So many of the new users, have a question on How to take screenshot on Mac?. How to take screenshot on Mac using keyboard shortcuts

If you want to take screenshot of entire screen of Mac, then hold down Command (⌘) plus Shift plus 3.

How to take partial screenshot on Mac

Hold Command (⌘) plus Shift plus 4, and then drag the crosshair pointer to select the area. You can hold Shift, Option, or the Spacebar when you drag to resize the selection area. To cancel, press Escape (esc) before you release the mouse button.

How to take screenshot of a specific window in Mac

Hold Command (⌘) plus Shift plus 4, press the Space bar, take  the camera pointer over the window which you want to take screenshot  to highlight it, and then click.

This method works with open Finder windows and most application windows.

Where are taken screenshot of Mac are saved?

By default, all the taken screenshot will saved as “Screen shot (date and time).png.” You can open these screenshots with Preview or other image editing apps. Mac OS X v10.6 and later versions save the screenshots in PNG format. However you can change the default format using Terminal.
