    Micromax has unveiled new budget Android smartphone called Canvas Express.  The device will be sold exclusively on Flipkart starting from December 8.  The Micromax Canvas Express price in India is Rs.6,999.(Approx $116).

    Micromax Canvas Express runs on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat out of the box and has Dual sim(GSM+GSM) functionality.  It is powered by 1.3GHz qua d core processor with 1GB of RAM.  Canvas Express sports 4.5 inch display with screen resolution of FWVGA(480×854 pixels).

    Micromax Canvas Express comes with 5MP primary rear camera with flash  and 0.3MP front facing camera which is useful for selfies and video calling. The internal storage capacity of the device is 8GB and supports  microSD card  upto 32GB.

    Micromax Canvas Express houses  1950 mAh battery. The connectivity features of the device are 3G, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, USB tethering and WiFi Hotspot. The device comes with features such as HotKnot and Smart Wake. HotKnot is MediaTek’s NFC like solution using which user can tap screen to screen for sharing images, videos, music and browsing URLs. Using Smart Wake   user can open apps with customised gestures directly from the lock screen.

    Looking at the specifications, Micromax Canvas Express is not that impressive. Considering the price tag, Motorola Moto E or Xiaomi Redme 1S looks more attractive. However, post hands on review on Micromax Canvas Express we can conclude on this.

    • Decent Battery Life: The  Li-ion 2500 mAh battery provides a decent battery life. Considering the screen size, performance is good.
    • Attractive price: The price is features is good for this device.

    Cons of Micromax Canvas XL2

    • Limited Internal storage:  Having internal storage of 4GB limits installing high eng games as well as installing multiple apps.
    • No 720p screen:  Having 5.5 inch screen without even 720p resolution, screen looks little pixelated. Much cheaper devices such as Redme 1s, does comes with a 720p screen.
    • Android 5.0 update: There is no word on the update to latest android version.

    • Go to Settings > More… > Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
    • Tap on to Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot to enable.
    • Once enabled, you will find a icon, in left top notification area.
    • Tapping once again will disable the WiFi hotspot.

    • Tab on to Set up Wi-Fi Hotspot.
    • Enter the SSID, Security type and Password and tap Save.

    Using Micromax Canvas A1 USB tethering

    • Connect your device to PC using the USB cable,

    • Go to Settings > More… > Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
    • Tap on to USB tethering.
