  • Motorola One Power Review-Pros and Cons

Motorola phones were famous for providing great user experience, timely Android updates, and overall great value for the money. However, in the last couple of years, Motorola phones were not that impressive in terms of value for money or in proving timely software updates. With the launch of Motorola One Power, the company is trying to regain customer confidence.  Here is our Motorola One Power Review based on pros and cons.

Motorola One Power is part of Android One program. This promises timely software updates. This smartphone will compete with likes of Mi A2, Zenfone Max Pro M1, Nokia 6.1 Plus etc. Let’s start our Motorola One Power Review with specification list and the pros and cons.

    Motorola One Power Review

Motorola One Power Review-Pros and Cons

Here is the quick Specification summary of Motorola One Power.

    • Octa Core Snapdragon 636 Soc.
    • 4GB RAM and 64GB Internal Storage.
    • 6.2inch IPS LCD Full HD+Screen with Notch.
    • Dual Nano Sim Card Slot.
    • Dedicated slot for microSD card.
    •  Dual Rear camera setup-16MP(F/1.8) and 5MP(Depth).
    • 12MP front facing camera.
    • 5000 mAh battery.

    Motorola One Power Pros

    Great battery life

One of the best features of this smartphone is the massive battery. 5000 mAh battery with fast charging support is the great inclusion. In our my review period, the battery was easily lasting 2 days.

    Good performance

Snapdragon 636 with 4GB of RAM and stock Android provides good performance. It may be a gaming or multitasking phone was able to run smoothly. However, the device got little hot while playing graphics intensive games such as PUBG for more than 45 minutes. Overall for the price segment, performance is satisfactory.

    Decent Display

Motorola One Power sports 6.2 inch LTPS IPS display with full-HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. Viewing angles are good. Brightness is decent enough to legible even in outdoors. There is an option to tweak color temperature.

    Software

As it is part of the Android One programme, it provides stock Android experience and no bloatware. The device is expected to get timely security updates for the next 3 years and Android updates for the next 2 years.

    Motorola One Power Cons

    No Dual 4G  support

On this device, only one sim card works on 4G and the other one is restricted to 3G. So users cannot use 4G VOLTE calls on both the sim cards simultaneously.

    Little Slow Fingerprint scanner

The fingerprint scanner is slightly slow compared to some of the other similar priced phones.

    No Stabilisation for Video recording

Motorola One Power has neither optical stabilization nor electronic stabilization. Hence Video output looks shaky.

Low light camera performance could have been better

Motorola One Power camera performance in well-lit conditions came out good. However, low light photography is not satisfactory.

  • Moto G6 Plus Cons- 4 reasons for not to buy

Lenovo finally launched Moto G6 Plus in India. It was unveiled globally in April 2018. Unlike the global variant of Moto G6 Plus, Indian variant comes with 6GB of RAM.  Looking at the specifications and the pricing, here is the Moto G6 Plus Cons.

    Moto G6 Plus Cons

Moto G6 Plus Cons- 4 reasons for not to buy

    Uninspiring design

Moto G6 Plus sports 5.93-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixel) resolution. However, the latest trend of thin bezels or display with a notch is missing. It has thicker bezels, especially in the top and bottom. The device has screen to body ratio of around 75%.  Overall there is nothing so special in this device when it comes to the design aspect.

    ‘outdated’ Qualcomm Snapdragon processor

Moto G6 Plus is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor. There are many smartphones such as Redmi Note 5 Pro, Nokia 6.1 Plus feature much more powerful and efficient Snapdragon 635 processors at a more competitive price. Xiaomi Poco F1  which comes with price tag of INR 21,000, features Snapdragon 845.

    No Fast Android updates

Compared to Android One powered smartphones, Moto phones software updates are slow. There was a time when Motorola phones used to get Android updates faster. But nowadays, it is not the same.

Not a value for money device

Motorola is popular for providing the latest hardware at the competitive price.  However, Moto G6 Plus is disappointed in this segment. Price at INR 22,999, features it offers compared to the competition is very less.  Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Xiaomi Poco F1, Redmi Note 5 Pro etc provide much better features at the competitive price.

These are my raw opinion on the device. These Moto G6 Plus Cons are purely based on the specifications. I will be updating this post in the coming days once I complete the full review.

  • Moto G6 Review- Pros and Cons

Motorola India launched 6th gen Moto G smartphones in India with new design language and tall 18:9 displays. Moto G6 price starts at Rs.13,999 for the variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. How well this fares with others in the same price range?. Let us have a quick look into  Moto G6 Review in the form of pros and cons.

    Moto G6 Review

Moto G6 Review- Pros and Cons

Before starting of pros and cons, let’s have a quick look into the specifications of Moto G6.

    • Snapdragon 450 SoC(Octa Core) with Adreno 506 GPU.
    • 5.7 inch full HD+ IPS panel with 18:9 aspect ratio.
    • 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage or 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage.
    • Dual nano sim card support with dedicated microSD card slot.
    • Rear dual camera 12MP+5MP.
    • 16MP front facing camera.
    • 3000 mAh battery with fast charging.

    Moto G6 Pros

Here is the list of features which we liked on Moto G6.

    • Good look and feel: Gone are the days when the budget phones had a shabby design. Moto G6 sports a premium design which gives the impression of a phone which priced double of this.
    • Near Stock version of Android Oreo: Like the previous iteration of Moto G, this device too comes with near stock version of Android with few useful software add-ons. This includes Moto Actions, Moto Key which allows entering the password using the fingerprint scanner, Motorola’s One-Button Nav gesture in fingerprint scanner etc.
    • Decent Display screen: Moto G6 screen provides good viewing angles and accurate colors. However, max brightness and sunlight legibility are mediocre.
    • Dedicated microSD card slot: Along with dual sim card slot, it does provide dedicated microSD card slot.
    • Good battery life with fast charging: The 3000 mAh battery performance is impressive. It easily lasts more than a day with juice left for more. The inclusion of fast charging is a bonus.

    Moto G6 cons

    • Average performance: Snapdragon 450 processor with clean near stock android does provide optimal performance. However, the phone does struggle while handling the intensive workloads. Also, we noticed some lag while playing heavy games like Asphalt 8.
    • Slow and inaccurate facial recognition: The face recognition on the Moto G6 is not accurate. It fails to recognize our face many of the times.
    •  Average Camera performance: Dual camera setup in the back, as well as front-facing camera, does take decent photos and videos in the well-lit conditions. However, in indoor and low light conditions, it struggles a bit.

Moto G6 Review summary: It is a decent smartphone with an attractive price tag. Considering the competition, we felt it could have been better if it had a better processor and camera setup.
