  • Vivo V7 Plus Cons- Top 5 unexciting features

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo launched the V7+  in India on 7th September. It is a selfie centric smartphone with a massive 24MP front facing camera.   The front facing camera is also assisted with Vivo’s moonlight camera technology which the company claims to help achieve better selfies in low light.  Though this smartphone target audience is selfie loving consumers, for the price of Rs.21,990 we are not happy with some of its offering. So here are some of the Vivo V7 Plus Cons according to us.

    Vivo V7 Plus Cons

Vivo V7 Plus Cons- Top 5 unexciting features

These Vivo V7+ Cons are purely based on the specification sheet.

Entry level processor on a higher mid-range smartphone

Vivo V7+ is the first phone to launch with Snapdragon 450 in India. It is a good SoC but when comparing with Snapdragon 625, it is slightly under powered. When there are plenty of smartphones available with Snapdragon 625 for a lesser price, it is disappointing to see this SoC on a phone which is priced at Rs.21,990.

    720P HD display screen

Apart from the selfie camera, a much-talked feature of Vivo V7 Plus is its bezel less display. Though it is not 100% bezel less display, narrow bezels in the top and bottom is a good move.  However, one thing which we are disappointed with the display is its screen resolution. It has a large 5.99-inch display screen with 1440 x 720 pixels resolution and approximate 269 ppi pixel density. Nowadays there are smartphones which are priced less than 10k and features full HD screen. For the price and for such a large display size, we expected at least full HD display panel.

No USB-C port and No Fast charging

Vivo V7+ comes with micro USB port for charging and data transfer. USB-C is the latest standard.  This device comes with a normal charger out of the box. We would have liked if it had a fast charger.

    No Dual camera setup

Being a camera centric phone, we would have liked if it had a dual camera setup. The smartphones such as Moto G5s Plus, Mi A1 etc offer this at the much more attractive price range.

    Value for money

Apart from selfie camera, when we compare other features and price, we felt it is slightly over priced.

These are some of the Vivo V7 Plus Cons or the features which we didn’t  like on the smartphone based on the spec sheet. We might be wrong. That we can conclude once we do the in-depth review of the device. What is your thought on the device? Do share in the comment section below.

  • Vivo V5s Cons- 5 Reasons for not to Buy

With the success of Vivo V5 and Vivo V5 Plus smartphones, Vivo has launched one more selfie centric smartphone called as Vivo V5s.  20MP front facing camera with moonlight flash is the main USP of this device. In this post, let us have a quick into Vivo V5s Cons-Reasons for not to Buy according to us.

    Vivo V5s Cons

Vivo V5s Cons-5 Reasons for not to Buy

Demerits or disadvantages of Vivo V5s mentioned below are subjective. It is based on the availability of features on other smartphones in the similar price tag.

    • 720p Display panel: Vivo V5s comes with 5.5 inch IPS LCD panel with 1280×720 pixel resolution. Colors, viewing angles, sunlight legibility are good. But overall sharpness with around 267 ppi pixel density not impressive when compared with other 1080p resolution displays on Moto G5 Plus, Redmi Note 4 etc.
    • No Android Nougat Out of the box: Now new smartphones started coming with Android Nougat which is the latest version.  This means that, one need to wait for the updates. It would have been great if it was shipped with Android 7.0 out of the box.
    • Average rear camera performance: Vivo V5s comes with 13MP rear camera with LED flash. In day light conditions it takes decent photos, but in low light and artificial lighting condition performance way below than Moto G5 Plus.
    • Average gaming performance:  Vivo V5s is powered by 1.5 GHz Octa Core MediaTek MT6750 SoC with Mali-T860MP2 GPU and 4GB of RAM. This is the same configuration we have seen on Vivo V5. There was no noticeable lag in basic usages. However, it struggles in gaming sections. Stuttering and frame drops were observed while playing games like Asphalt 8. Casual games performance was decent.
    • Slightly over priced: Vivo V5s is a king when it comes to selfie department. However, when looking into overall performance, Rs.18,990 feels bit over priced.

These are some of the Vivo V5s cons according to us. Choosing smartphone depends on the user priorities. Knowing the demerits of a device helps to know on what to expect from the device. Please share your thoughts on Vivo V5s in the comment section below.

  • Vivo V5 Plus Cons- Reasons not to buy

Vivo V5 Plus is considered to be one of the best Selfie centric smartphone in the sub 30k budget. Priced at Rs.27,990, it is directly competing with the likes of OnePlus 3, Asus Zenfone 3 etc. In this post, let’s have a quick look into Vivo V5 Plus Cons which may not be deal breaker but good to know.

Vivo V5 Plus Cons- Reasons not to buy

    Vivo V5 Plus Cons

No Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box

It is been more than 4 months since the launch of latest Android version 7.0. Budget smartphone such as Zenfone 3s Max comes with Android 7.0 out of the box. OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T already started receiving the Android Nougat update. Vivo in the past hardly updated their phones. Most of the phones still running the Android version which it sold with.

No NFC, IR Blaster and USB Type-C

Though these are not must have features, many phones which are priced lesser than this phone and similar priced phones have these features.

    Mediocre SoC for the price

Snapdragon 625 is a efficient SoC. But for this price, there are phones with Snapdragon 820 which is much more powerful than this. Redmi Note 4 which is priced almost half of this phone is powered by this same SoC. OnePlus 3 offers Snapdragon 820 with 6GB of RAM which is also priced almost similar. When playing high end games such as Asphalt 8 in Vivo V5 Plus, we observed minor lags in the highest setting.

    No expandable storage

Vivo V5 Plus comes with 64GB of internal storage which is enough for most of the customer. But lack of option to add a microSD is a bit disappointment. It would have been great atleast it had hybrid sim card slot.

Fast charger is not as fast as DASH charger in OnePlus 3

Vivo V5 Plus comes with Proprietary fast charging support. It does charges battery faster. However, when compared to Dash charger on Oneplus, it is bit slow.

These are some of the Vivo V5 Plus Cons according to us.
