OnePlus 5 Cons- 5 Reasons why it is not a flagship Killer

    1.Design

Oneplus 5 design and build quality are good and there is no doubt in that. However, it lacks originality or innovativeness. The design of the smartphone resembles very much with the likes of Oppo R11 and iPhone 7s Plus. It would have been great if OnePlus tried to make the device little more compact by reducing the bezels around the screen or adopting curved display. Samsung Galaxy S8 or LG G6 stands out from the rest due to their thin bezels and design.

    2. Display

OnePlus 5 sports 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display with full HD screen resolution. This is the same panel used on OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. Quality wise it is a good panel. But most of the flagship this year comes with QuadHD resolution. Even recently launched Honor 8 Pro which is priced lower than OnePlus 5 features QuadHD display panel.

    3. Water resistance

Most of this year’s flagship smartphones such as Galaxy S8, LG G6 or  HTC U11 comes with water resistant feature. This comes handy when there is accidental fall or sudden exposure to rain etc. Recently there was an article on phoneradar.com, which mentions about an instance where the customer is asked to pay Rs.48,000 for repairing water damaged OnePlus 3 which is priced at Rs.28,000 for the new device from the OnePlus service center. Though IP water resistance certification does not make the device waterproof, it reduces the chances of water damage.

    4. No Optical image stabilisation for both the camera

Dual camera setup is the highlighting feature of OnePlus 5. Surprisingly, OnePlus skipped Optical image stabilisation and provided only Electronic image stabilisation. Optical Image stabilisation comes in handy while taking snaps in low light or zoom shot. It also helps in smooth video recording.

    5. Post sales service support

OnePlus has limited service centres in India. Also going by the recent news, the paid service of OnePlus device cost is very high. If your device gets damaged through water or lightning, then the repair cost may become double the cost of the new device.

These are the 5 reasons we felt for not considering OnePlus 5 as the flasgship killer. In spite of all these OnePlus 5 Cons or drawbacks or demerits, OnePlus 5 is still a great phone. As per our knowledge, there is no charger which charges a smartphone as fast as DASH charger. This is the least priced smartphone in India to feature Snapdragon 835 SoC. Honor 8 Pro is the close contender for this phone.

  • Asus Zenfone Live Review- Pros and Cons

There is a lot of options when it comes to sub 10k smartphones. Metal build, respectable camera, good battery life, decent performance are becoming regular in this price segment. Asus Zenfone Live tries to stand out from the crowd with its unique feature of real time live streaming beautification. Here is our Asus Zenfone Live review based on pros and cons.

Key USP of Zenfone live is the real time live streaming beautification feature. The device has 5 MP front facing camera with 1.4-micron pixels and a selfie flash. This helps Zenfone Live to capture better photos and videos in low light. There is a beautification mode which has the option to set the beautification from 0 to 10. 0 means no beautification and 10 is the highest. When the beautification is applied, it makes the skin smoother and removes blemishes. You can use beautification mode to record videos using the front camera or live streaming on instagram, facebook live or youtube. It is a worthy feature for those who want to look beautiful while doing live broadcasting.

    Asus Zenfone Live Review

Asus Zenfone Live sports 5 inch display screen with 720p pixels. The viewing angle, brightness, and colors are satisfactory. However, we felt it would have been great if it had full HD display panel.

It is a dual sim smartphone which supports 4G VoLTE. The hybrid sim card slot on this device can be used for 2 sim cards or 1 sim card with microSD card. Zenfone Live is powered by Snapdragon 400 with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The SoC is quite dated. For giving an idea, this is the same SoC used on Moto G first generation.  It performs decently in most of the basic tasks. However, there is a noticeable lag while opening apps or playing games.

Asus Zenfone Live Review-Pros and Cons

    Zenfone Live Pros

    • Light and compact design.
    • Easy to use UI.
    • Decent selfie camera.
    • Real-time live streaming beautification feature.
    • Decent build quality.

    Zenfone Live Cons

    • Dates SoC.
    • No Android 7.0 out of the box.
    • No fingerprint scanner.
    • Average performance.

Nubia M2 Lite Review-Pros and Cons

    Nubia M2 Lite Pros

Here are the some of the things which we have liked on the Nubia M2 Lite.

Design and Build quality: We liked the design and build quality of the device. It looks refreshing. In this price range, most of the smartphones feature unibody metal build. But Nubia M2 Lite stands out from the crowd. The color combination and overall feel of the device are good.

Camera: Nubia M2 Lite sports 16MP front facing camera with  ISOCELL sensor,  a f/2.0 lens, and Soft Light flash. There is a 13MP camera in the back with LED flash. The camera performance considering the price is good. The front facing camera does take decent selfies in both indoor and outdoor conditions. The primary camera does a good job in good lighting conditions. In low light, there is slight noise in the taken pictures.

Decent performance: Nubia M2 Lite is powered by Mediatek 6750 quad-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz with 4GB of RAM.  There was no lag or stuttering observed in the regular task. Multitasking also not an issue on this device. Though it struggles a bit while playing high-end games, it managed to play most of the casual games without any troubles.

Good battery life: With regular usage, device manages to provide one full day of usage. Though there are devices which offer better battery life than this, it is not at all bad by today’s standards.

UI and Customisation: Nubia M2 Lite comes with  Nubia UI 4.0. It is simple and offers lot of customisation.

    Nubia M2 Lite Cons

Here are the few things which we have not liked on Nubia M2 Lite.

    • The phone feels little slippery on hand.
    • No Android nougat out of the box.

Nubia M2 Lite Review Summary: Priced at 12,499, Nubia M2 Lite impresses in design and build quality. The camera and general performance are decent. During our review period device received 2 system updates in which one included security patch update for May 2017. There are very few smartphones in this price range which provide regular security patch updates. Display is one area we felt it could have been better.
