  • How to update Motorola Moto E to Android 5.1 Lollipop

    Motorola India, as promised started rolling out latest Android 5.1 Lollipop update to its budget smartphone Moto E(Gen1). The latest Android 5.1 Lollipop update is available through Over the air(OTA) update in India. Users will get a notification popup informing of the availability of the update. Users can also manually check for the update.

    The Android 5.1 Lollipop update change log  for Moto E (Gen1) is almost identical to the Moto E (Gen2). The features or changes includes Material design, pull-down menu for quickly selecting different Wi-Fi access points or paired Bluetooth devices; reduces noise in low-light shots etc. It also brings device protection  which is useful if your device is lost or stolen it will stay locked until you sign in with your Google account, even if someone resets it to factory settings.

    How to update Motorola Moto E to Android 5.1 Lollipop update

    Follow the steps given below to update the Moto E to Android 5.1 Lollipop update. For successful installation, make sure that your Moto e battery is charged at least 50% and connected to Wi-Fi network. The update is more than 200MB. So make sure that, you have sufficient internet storage is available.

    If you have received a notification message for this update:

    • Select “Yes, I’m in”.
    • After the software is downloaded, select “Install now”.
    • After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
    • Your phone is now updated with 23.21.15.

    If you have not received a notification message for this update, follow the steps below to manually update your phone:

    • Select the Settings icon in the apps menu.
    • Select “About phone”.
    • Select “System updates”.
    • Select “Yes, I’m in”. After the software is downloaded, select “Install now”.
    • After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
    • Your phone is now updated to 23.21.15.

    Moto G is most economical smartphone receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.  This update brings materiel design for the UI, brand new ART runtime and improvement on battery management.  Also, it will make 1st gen Moto G much snappier.

    How to Update Moto G  to Android 5.0 Lollipop

    As of now, Moto G update is available only through OTA update. Hence you need get connected to the WiFi Network. Also Motorola Recommends minimum 50% charged battery.  Below is the steps to update the Moto G to the latest Firmware.

    There two scenarios.

    1. If you are received a notification message for the Android 5.0 Lollipop Update

    • Select “Yes, I’m in”.
    • After the software is downloaded, select “Install now”.
    • After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
    • Your phone is now updated with latest Android version.

    2.  If you are not received the update notification

    In this scenario, you need to check the update manually. To do so, follow the steps given below.

    • After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.

  • Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Moto G – Coming soon in India

    As per the latest reports, Motorola is gearing up for updating Moto G(1st Gen) to Android 5.0 Lollipop in India.  Motorola, already started providing the ‘Motorola Update Services’ app  in Google play store ahead of the Android Lollipop update to Moto G.

    Android OS reported that, Motorola has started sending the Android Lollipop soak test invites to members of the Moto Feedback Network who own Moto G.

    The invite mail states as follows, “Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are inviting owners of the Moto G in India to participate in an early preview of a new software release and provide feedback.”

    Motorola also updated its OTA  update service app. This app will enable will enable a future upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop for Moto G.

    Motorola has confirmed the Android 5.0 Lollipo update for Moto G, Moto E, Moto X, Moto G 4G LTE, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini smartphone. However, there was no communication on the time frame of releasing these updates.

    Motorola last month announced the OTA rollout of the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Moto G( 2nd  Generation) and Moto X(2nd Generation) smartphones.

     

  • Motorola Moto G Price Slashed by RS2000

    Motorola has made Moto G smartphone more pocket friendly.  The new Price of Moto G is reduced by Rs.2000.  With increase in competition in the lower mid range smartphones, Motorola took this step to get more customers. Recently Asus has launched 5 smartphones under ZenFone series and Xiomi Mi 3 also launched at Rs.13,999. All these smartphones comes with better specifications than Moto G.

     

    After this price cut, 8GB version of Moto G price is Rs.10,499 and 16GB variant price is 11,999.  Flipkart is the only official retailer for Motorola smartphones in India. According to the listing, price cut is limited time offer which will continue till the stock last. Recently Flipkart gave a exchange offer on Moto G, but price cut is done for the first time.

    Motorola Moto G comes with 4.5 inch 720p resolution  display screen , Snapdragon 400 quad core processor running at 1.2GHz , 1GB RAM, 8GB/16GB internal storage, 5MP primary camera with LED flash, 1.3MP front facing camera. In India, Moto G dual sim variant only available. It runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat. Few days back, it received 4.4.4 update which fixed many bugs and added few enhancements.     Though there are smartphones which are lower the price than Moto G, most of them are running on Android Jelly Bean or Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS. This is one of the key attraction buy the MotoG.
