    Samsung has unveiled much anticipated Galaxy S7, its flagship device for 2016. Like last year, this year too we have 2 different variants Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. The preorders will begin from Tuesday and the device will be available to consumers starting March 11th in selected regions. Samsung also announced offer to provide free Gear VR headset bundled along with six games for those who preorder in some region.

    What are different variants of Galaxy S7 available?
    Primarily there are 2 variants. One is Galaxy S7 and another one is Galaxy S7 Edge. There is also variant based on the Soc, single and hybrid dual sim variants. The different colour variants available are black onyx, gold platinum.

    What is the SoC is used on Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge?

    As mentioned above, there 2 different  SoC variants are available. One is based on  Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor and another one is  Exynos 8890 SoC. Based on the region, availability of these variant changes.

    How about Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge display?

    Samsung Galaxy S7 comes with 5.1-inch QHD Super Amoled display and Galaxy S7 Edge comes with 5.5-inch QHD Super Amoled display panel. Both smartphones feature Always-On display which allows you to check important notifications, time and date without having to wake up the device.

    Is there any changes interms of camera unit used in Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge?

    Yes. Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge comes with 12MP primary camera with f1.7 and 5MP front facing camera. Like we have seen in iPhone 6s, this also use display flash while taking selfies. There are plenty of camera tweaks such as Motion photo, Motion panorama  to name few.

    What are the storage option available?

    The device will be available in 32GB or 64GB variants depending on the region. There is also provision for additional storage through microSD card upto 200GB. All the variants of Galaxy S7 will come with 4GB of RAM.

    What about battery capacity of Galaxy S7?

    Galaxy S7 comes with 3000mAh battery and Galaxy S7 Edge has 3600mAh battery.  Both variants supports fast charging both on wired and wireless.

    What is the design and build quality change? 

    Aesthetically, both devices looks very similar to its predecessor. However, now both devices has IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

    Mainly Galaxy A5 2016 comes with 2 processor variants. One is powered by Snapdragon 615 Soc and the other one is Exynos 7580. The model which is available in India is powered by Exynos 7580 Soc which is a 64 bit 1.6GHz Octa core processor(Cortex A53) with Mali T20 GPU.  It has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It also supports microSD card.

    What are the different colours options available?

    Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 will be available with 3 different colours variants namely Gold, White and Black.

    Galaxy A5 2016 has dual sim card slot+ seperate memory card slot.

    The device sports 5.2 inch super AMOLED screen with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and pixel density of ~424 ppi. The screen has Corning Gorilla glass 4 protection.

    Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 houses 13MP primary camera with f1.9 lense and LED flash. The camera also has optical image stabilisation. There is also a 5MP front facing camera with f1.9 lense. Both camera are equipped to record videos at 1080p resolution.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual sim Variant Launched In India

    Samsung has unveiled the dual sim variant of Galaxy Note 5 in India.  It accepts 2 nano sim cards. The price of the device is Rs.51,400 for the 32GB variant in India.

    Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual sim sports 5.7 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 518ppi. It runs on Android 5.1 based TouchWiz  UI.  The Note 5 Dual comes in 32GB and 64GB variant. As of now, only 32GB variant is launched in India. It does not supports microSD card.

    Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual is powered by Samsung’s 64-bit Exynos octa-core (2.1GHz quad-core + 1.5GHz quad-core) processor with LPDDR4 RAM. The connectivity features of the device are Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, GPS, Bluetooth 4.2 and support for NFC.  It packs with  Li-Po 3000 mAh battery .

    Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual is equipped with 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilisation, along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The dimensions of this phablet are 153.2×76.1×7.6mm, and weights 171 grams. It will be available in Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, and Silver Titanium colour variants.

    The 64GB of Galaxy Note 5 Dual is also due to launch in India soon and it is expected to be priced at Rs. 57,400. In addition, Samsung has announced price cut for the single sim variant of Galaxy Note 5. The 32GB variant of single sim Galaxy Note 5 is priced at 47,900 while the 64GB storage variant will be available for Rs 53,900.

    • First, go the screen on which you want to take a screenshot.
    • Now press and hold Power and the Home key simultaneously. In my experience, I felt the power key should press fraction of a seconds before home key. If it is not simultaneous then screenshot can not be taken.
    • The screen will Flicker and a shutter sound will be heard. This confirms that the screenshot is taken.

    How to access taken screenshot on Galaxy J7, J5 and J2

    • You can access taken screenshot from the notification area if you have just taken a screenshot or you have not cleared the notification area after taking the screenshot.
    • Another way to access the taken a screenshot is from the Gallery folder.

    Samsung Galaxy J2, J5 and J7 all share a few common features such as AMOLED display screen and Android 5.1.1 with Touchwiz UI. The screen size, screen resolution and internal hardware are different.

    Samsung Galaxy J5, J7 and J2 are budget Android smartphones. So Samsung has trimmed many features on these devices. For example, Palm swipe method of taking a screenshot is not available on this device.  Without installing any third-party apps, if you want to print screen on these Samsung Galaxy J smartphones, then there is only one method is available as of now.

  • Samsung Galaxy On5 Review-Pros and Cons

    Samsung Galaxy On5 is the new offering in the price segment of below 10k. With decent spec sheet and affordable price, this Dual sim Samsung smartphone competing with the likes of Lenovo A600 Plus, Meizu M2, Motorola Moto E, Redme smartphone etc.

    Samsung Galaxy On5 sports 5 inch TFT display with screen resolution of  720×1280 resolution and 294 ppi pixel density. Though it is not a AMOLED screen, it is still a good display screen. The viewing angles are decent and color output is good. Sadly display is fingerprint magnet and doesn’t come with Corning Gorilla glass protection. Also screen is bit reflective which affects on the legibility under sunlight. Considering similar priced smartphones, display quality is satisfactory.

    Samsung Galaxy On5 is powered by quad core 1.3GHz Samsung Exynos processor with 1.5GB of RAM and Mali T720 GPU. Out of 1.5GB of RAM, 534MB is free and 681MB is used by system files. Default apps consume around 184MB of RAM. In terms gaming experience as well as loading heavy animation in UI and apps is good. Phone doesnot exhibit any heating issues in my testing. Even with 20 minutes of gaming phone became just warm(36 degree) which is acceptable.

    Samsung Galaxy On5 houses 8MP primary camera with LED flash and 5MP front facing camera.  The primary camera takes some impressive images in outdoor conditions as well as in artificial lighting. It can record videos at 1080p resolution. There is some stabilization from shakes using the software tweaks. Video quality is decent but not great. There is also a pro mode through which you can do manual settings.  Front 5MP snapper is on par with similar priced smartphone front cameras. Wide-Selfie and Interval Shots options are nice addition.

    Samsung Galaxy On5 has 2600 mAh battery. As the Exynos Soc used in this device is optimized for battery usage,  it easily lasted more than 1 day with heavy usage on our test unit. There is also normal power saving mode and ultra power saving mode through which you can increase battery level further. For connectivity, Galaxy On5 has 4G, 3G, GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. It is dual sim smartphone and both sim are capable of 4G. But you can use any one of the sim on 4G connectivity at a time.

    • Speaker output is bit low.
